CBD oil for your dog

The majority of people buy CBD oil from brands such as Jacob Hooy, Kruidvat and Medihemp. These are basically products for humans and the wishes of the dog have not been taken into account. The most important consequence of this is that the smell and taste can be unpleasant. This already applies to people, but it is even more important for dogs. It is therefore wise to take a separate CBD oil for your dog.

The most suitable CBD oil

Then of course the question is which oil you should choose. We have already done the research into that choice for you, and we will explain why our CBD oil for pets is so suitable for your dog.

CBD oil from the previously mentioned brands, such as Jacob Hooy, which are popular among human users, only contain hemp seed oil and/or olive oil. It's a different story with our pet products: fish oil is the supplement. Salmon oil, for example, or sardine oil. And that fish oil is of exceptional quality, because we know how important this additive is for pets.

The right dosage of CBD oil for dogs

It is not possible to summarize in one sentence what dosage each dog should receive, because each dog is a different case.

And of course every CBD oil is also different, because the concentration of CBD differs per oil.

Fortunately, there are a number of rules of thumb that you can use when you intend to give your dog CBD oil.

-1.- Use 1 drop of CBD oil per 5 kilograms of weight with each administration. So suppose the dog weighs 20 kilos, then that is: divide 20 by 5 = 4 drops per time.

-2.- Maintain a maximum of 3 applications per day. Continuing on the example above, that would be 3 times 4 = 12 drops in a day.

-3.- And an important piece of advice for when you are just starting to try it: start with a low dose. For example, 2 drops per day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Continue this for a week to see how the dog responds, and then - after a few days - the dosage can be gradually increased.

The administration of CBD oil in dogs

Because it is normal among human users to drop the CBD drops under the tongue, many owners are inclined to try this on their dogs as well. But that is unwise. What is the best method? Very simple: use dog food.

Firstly, it is wise to have the CBD oil at room temperature. The pipette bottle should also be shaken vigorously before use. And then the administration can begin.

Drop the desired amount of drops on the food or snack and the dog will simply enjoy it on its own. It is important that the dog ingests all the CBD oil. Only do it with a portion that is certain that the dog will eat everything.

Can the dog overdose?

Just to get straight to the point: no, you don't have to worry about a possible overdose. That's because CBD is not a psychoactive substance, making it impossible for the dog to get high or stoned.

There is no known level of intake of CBD at which the effects suddenly became much more intense, or in any other way dangerous. CBD is not overwhelming for the body, not even at a high dose, and therefore also not in dogs. So you don't have to feel guilty. The risks are negligible.
